Pause
A famous verse in the book of Psalm is a direct quote from God:
“Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
– Psalm 46:10 NIV
Let’s do that today. Spend 5-10 minutes in quiet reflection. As thoughts or concerns come to mind, set them down before God. Resist talking, praying, or worrying. He is God. He sees you, loves you, and cares about your situation. Be still and know that He is God.

Matthew 7:15-20 NIV
“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.”
Walk with God
What stood out to you as you read Jesus’s words today?
As we think about good fruit and bad fruit, let’s consider this passage:
“The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like… But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” – Galatians 5:19-23 NIV
What stands out to you from these lists? Do you see any of this fruit in your own life?
Spend time with God today, asking Him to cultivate you so that the good fruit of the Spirit will grow in you.
